UFC 108 Odds Now Available

Posted by admin | Gambling News | Thursday 31 December 2009 4:40 am

UFC 108 odds were currently available at betED.com, which was giving away free cash on all new accounts when mentioning bonus code: GAMBLING911

UFC 108 odds featured payout odds on the underdogs that ranged from $150 to $260 on a $100 bet or $15 to $26 on a $10 bet.

After a winless 2009, Evans looks to start new year off on right track.  He is still the favorite in this bout vs. Thiago Silva.  That’s not as bad as it sounds since Evans lost only one fight and the other (against Rampage Jackson) had been cancelled, thus leaving Evans without a win.

"It was tough, I’ve never not won in a full year before," Evans said. "To be dominated the way I was, it’s the most humbling, worst feeling in the world. And not having a chance to out and prove yourself again, not only to the fans but to yourself, that’s what hurt me so bad."

All UFC 108 betting odds could be found below and bet at betED.com, now celebrating more than 10 years online.

Philly.com: Harrah’s Exec Seeks to Revitalize Atlantic City

Posted by admin | Gambling News | Saturday 26 December 2009 10:32 am

By Suzette Parmley

Inquirer Staff Writer

ATLANTIC CITY – Persistent. That’s how Marie Osmond describes Don Marrandino, new Eastern Division president for gambling giant Harrah’s Entertainment Inc.

It was Marrandino, you see, who persuaded the singer and her brother Donny to resurrect their 1970s TV variety show on a Las Vegas stage.

"Don gives you an offer you can’t refuse. . . . He believed in Donny and Marie, the brand," Osmond said during a phone interview from Vegas, where "The Donny and Marie Show" has played five nights a week for more than a year now at the Flamingo casino, which Marrandino used to run.

A knack for booking acts that find an audience is what helped Marrandino land back in his native Atlantic City, where he began his career 28 years ago. The move also brings him back to his roots in Brigantine, where his parents and siblings still live and where he spent seven summers as a beach lifeguard.

"I’m really a marketing, entertainment, excitement, PR kind of guy," he said during a recent interview in his office at Caesars casino.

A professed workaholic, Marrandino, 50, said his style was to jump in, assess the situation, and figure out what he needs to do.

He has been in his new job almost 100 days, and the task before him is daunting: to keep Atlantic City, where casino revenue is down 13.5 percent this year, viable – and Harrah’s four casinos here with it.

Competition from Pennsylvania’s slot parlors is fierce. Customers are more reluctant to travel and part with their discretionary dollars.

But the 6-foot-2-inch, 220-pound former football lineman at Holy Spirit High School in Absecon (Class of ‘77) and West Chester University (Class of ‘81) thrives on tackling challenges – and has a good time doing it.

"I liken working at a casino to throwing a party every day," said Marrandino, who grew up a diehard Philly sports fan. "I think we need to let people know that this is a cool and fun place to be."

Entertainment – Marrandino’s forte – is one big way to keep the party lively.

In 21 years on the Strip, he brought Toni Braxton to the Flamingo; the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, the Who, and the Eagles to the Hard Rock Hotel; and Rita Rudner to Harrah’s Las Vegas.

"He knows when to be in your business, and when not to be," Marie Osmond said. "He’s very good with public relations and what to promote. He does it in a very brilliant way."

Deutsche Bank gambling analyst Andrew Zarnett said Marrandino’s return to Atlantic City "brings energy, historical perspective, and great connectivity to staff and customers."

In announcing in August that Marrandino would step into the shoes of three-decade company veteran Carlos Tolosa, Harrah’s Entertainment chairman and CEO Gary Loveman described him as "one of the most energetic, engaging and creative leaders" at Harrah’s.

The company’s four casinos here – Bally’s, Showboat, Caesars, and Harrah’s Resort – accounted for about 44 percent of Atlantic City’s total $4.55 billion revenue last year. They account for more than one-third of the casino workforce and about 40 percent of the total hotel rooms.

Marrandino also oversees Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack, the second-most profitable slots parlor in Pennsylvania, which grossed $319.6 million in the July 2008-June 2009 fiscal year.

Las Vegas-based Harrah’s Entertainment reported a net loss of more than $1 billion in the third quarter ended Sept 30. The company also experienced a nearly 15 percent decline in cash flow during the quarter, which analysts like Zarnett attribute to continued midweek weakness in its two key markets: Las Vegas and Atlantic City.

So, for Marrandino, the focus is trained on three goals right now: increasing the number of casino jobs in spite of increased competition, raising Atlantic City’s profile as an entertainment and nightlife mecca, and keeping hotel rooms affordable and available.

"Harrah’s Entertainment properties are absolutely committed to advancing Atlantic City as a year-round destination," he said.

888.com acquires Wink Bingo for £60m

Posted by admin | Gambling News | Monday 21 December 2009 4:08 am

Online bingo business Wink Bingo, which operates on 888’s Dragonfish network, has been sold by owners Daub Limited to 888 for £59.7 million. Announcing the sale this week, 888.com chief executive Gigi Levy said: “We are delighted to announce the Wink Bingo acquisition as an expansion of our B2C online Bingo footprint in the lucrative UK market. The transaction is financially attractive and will be earnings enhancing.

“The Wink team has a proven track record of excellence in marketing, CRM and execution and will be a great addition to our growing Bingo business.”

888 will pay an initial £11 million to Daub on completion, followed by further payments based on performance and set between five and six times the businesses EBITDA in the year to March 31, 2011. The earn-out payment is expected to be made during the second quarter of 2011 and is capped at £59.7 million.

Wink Bingo had revenue of £15 million and pretax profit of £1.3 million in the 11 months to November 30. As at 30 November 2009 Wink Bingo and its subsidiaries had gross assets of £1.6 million.

Launched in early 2008, Wink Bingo currently has over 60,000 active players (as at October 2009), making it one of the most popular sites for online bingo. The firm runs several online bingo networks including Wink Bingo, Posh Bingo and Bingo Fabulous.

The transaction marks a further expansion of 888’s B2C emerging offering segment, which grew by an impressive 99% during the first three quarters of 2009.

888.com used the opportunity to issue a trading update, reporting current trading has remained strong and in line with expectations. A spokesman said that the company has developed new gaming products such as bingo to help offset the impact of losing half of its sales income when online gambling was made illegal in the United States two years ago.

Bingo is now the fastest growing area of its business, and the market has grown rapidly in Britain while traditional land bingo club operators have struggled.

The spokesman said that the company is confident on its prospects in 2010. Market expectations for full-year pretax profit currently range between £35 and 39 million with the consensus at £37 million, according to a Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S poll of eleven analysts.

Packers Steelers Spread Betting NFL Update – 12-19-09

Posted by admin | Gambling News | Wednesday 16 December 2009 11:38 am

December 19 – Despite their horror run, most bookmakers still give the Steelers a two point advantage in this game, which has to be described as ludicrous. Based on the past five weeks, the Packers should walk this and cover the spread. The have impressively fought back from a shaky start to the season whereas there appears to be no end in sight for the Steelers. The question is then why would odds makers give the Packers points?

Green Bay is 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games and undefeated during that stretch. On the road they’re 5-2 ATS and 4-2 SU. Against Pittsburgh they’re 2-5 SU in their last 7 matchups, but they meet for the first time since 2005. As the pre-season wears on, these have become two very different teams.

Pittsburgh is 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games at home and just 1-4 ATS overall in their last five outings overall. Big Ben Roethlisberger and the entire offense have been terrible. They could not get into the endzone against the Cleveland Browns, got chased down by the Raiders, hammered against Baltimore, stunned by Kansas and nailed by the Bengals. That is shocking for the Super Bowl Champions.

The question is simple. Will the Steelers come good now that the pressure of making the playoffs is taken off their shoulders? Looking at that list of teams sho have beaten them, the answer has to be no.

NFL Betting Line at BetUS.com: Pittsburgh -2 (41)

Meanwhile, Green Bay is just a team that knows how to win and nothing suggests that they cannot win this game by at least ten points. Overall, Green Bay is ranked 11 th and their rush defense is 1 st on the road. Mix that with the way the Steelers have been playing and you just can’t see this going any other way.

Our Pick: Green Bay -2 (OVER)

2010 Golden Globes Odds

Posted by admin | Gambling News | Wednesday 16 December 2009 5:10 am

Now that the nominations are out, Sportsbook.com hasn’t wasted any time putting up their 2010 Golden Globes odds.  This is Carrie Stroup reporting for Gambling911.com and I will be covering the betting scene extensively for the Golden Globes, Grammys and – the Mother of All Entertainment Betting Events – the 2010 Academy Awards.

Despite all the hoopla surrounding my personal favorite film, Precious, it’s Up In The Air that has been instilled as the favorite at Sportsbook.com

is a 2009 American comedy-drama film directed by Jason Reitman and co-written by Reitman and Sheldon Turner. It is a film adaptation of the 2001 novel, Up in the Air, written by Walter Kirn. The story is about a corporate downsizer in his travels and follows his isolated life and philosophies, along with the people that he meets along the way.

2010 Golden Globes odds for Best Drama include:

Avatar +350

Inglourious Basterds           +1000

Precious +350

The Hurt Locker +400

Up In The Air          -150

Avatar would pay out $35 for every $10 bet (+350).  Up In The Air would require a $15 bet to win $10 (-150).  The $15 bet is paid back should Up In The Air win, but the risk is much higher.  I say go with Precious for a possible $350 pay day on a $100 bet or a $35 pay day on a $10 bet.  Heck, I think Precious is going to take home the Oscar too. Love ya George Clooney but let someone else get the accolades this go around.

2010 Golden Globes odds also have George Clooney an even odds favorite to win Best Actor in a drama for Up In The Air.  I say Morgan Freeman at +400

Colin Firth – A Single Man +600

George Clooney – Up In The Air even

Jeff Bridges – Crazy Heart +175

Morgan Freeman – Invictus  +400

Tobey Maguire – Brothers +800

As for Best Actress in a Drama, I want this one to happen so bad, Gabourey Sidibe was phenomenal in Prescious as Precious and she comes in with even odds.

Carey Mulligan – An Education  +130

Emily Blunt – The Young Victoria +1000

Gabourey Sidibe – Precious even

Helen Mirren – The Last Station +800

Sandra Bullock – The Blind Side +400

Sportsbook.com was also offering odds on Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy and Best Director.

Sportsbook.com is the largest online sportsbook in terms of number of customers in the world.  In business since 1997.  Claim your 10 percent signup cash bonus here

Blotter: CNBC Special explores illegal gambling in the US

Posted by admin | Gambling News | Friday 11 December 2009 4:46 am

On December 16, CNBC will present a special on illegal gambling that may surprise the general public, but this will hardly be news to avid American gamblers. Victims of this summer’s Wire Act crackdown — which resulted in the seizure of over $30 million in poker player account funds — can attest firsthand to the risks that come with defying the U.S. governments attempts at gambling regulation.

The special also focuses on several other forms of illegal gambling, like unlicensed sportsbooks and unregulated (and unreported) high stakes cash poker games. The report attempts to vilify underground gamblers by insinuating mob ties and portraying offshore casino and sportsbook operators as sleazy opportunists. The special will end with an overview of the recent debate over the legalization of online gambling, but it falls far short of being unbiased by denying air time for major players like Senator Barney Frank or representatives of the PPA.

Gambling Or Casino

Posted by admin | Gambling News | Tuesday 1 December 2009 4:36 am

More often than not, casino gaming is often equated with the dark side of gambling. You are all to familiar with the image of the gambling addict, bankrupt and still hopelessly wasting every little cent he has in games. And this often the example give to show what happen when you indulge to much in casino gaming.

However, casino gaming isn’t that all bad. Not all that play in the casinos would end up becoming addicts. But to be sure, there are things that yourself can do to avoid becoming too over obsessed with playing.

The first thing that you need to understand is that, contrary to popular belief, you need not spend all day to become addicted to the casino. In fact, even if you play only once or twice per week, you can still end up being considered an addict. It is often not how long you played, but more of how much you actually spent playing. At worse, your one day run may be equivalent to your entire month’s salary.

Many casino addicts often defended their actions by saying that since they have money, they can spend it in any way they want. This is, however, a clear sign that something is indeed wrong. Another sign that a casino gamer may indeed be on the verge of becoming one is that he become very secretive about his activities. While being secretive can be quite normal, the gamer may become enraged and confrontational when asked about it.

As have been said before, problem gamblers have the tendency to play even with the last bill they have. And sadly, it doesn’t end there, as he will try to find other ways to get money. As such, you can expect to find him in large debts and still nagging for someone to lend him a few bucks. And again, he easily gets angry when no one lends him.

Treating someone with a gambling problem can be quite tedious, not only for the patient, but also for those around him. The first thing that is required for treatment is separating the gambler from the casino. However, this is not as easy as simply locking him up in his room. Like other forms of addiction, the gambler may suffer from withdrawal syndrome and may become very depressed. Thus, he needs to have a constant companion to cheer him up and prevent him from doing unexpected things. He will also be required to attend sessions with a psychiatrist to facilitate treatment. In some extreme cases of addiction, the patient may be asked to take medication, such as anti depressant drugs.

But of course, it is easier to prevent addiction than cure it. And the best way to prevent such addiction from starting is discipline. You need not stay away from the casino but rather play in moderation. You can start by bringing only a suitable amount of cash, and by suitable, it means an amount that is not too large. Also remember to have a good sense of money management, you should keep track of how much you spend. Last but not the least, you should know when to stop playing.
