Packers Steelers Spread Betting NFL Update – 12-19-09

December 19 – Despite their horror run, most bookmakers still give the Steelers a two point advantage in this game, which has to be described as ludicrous. Based on the past five weeks, the Packers should walk this and cover the spread. The have impressively fought back from a shaky start to the season whereas there appears to be no end in sight for the Steelers. The question is then why would odds makers give the Packers points?

Green Bay is 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games and undefeated during that stretch. On the road they’re 5-2 ATS and 4-2 SU. Against Pittsburgh they’re 2-5 SU in their last 7 matchups, but they meet for the first time since 2005. As the pre-season wears on, these have become two very different teams.

Pittsburgh is 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games at home and just 1-4 ATS overall in their last five outings overall. Big Ben Roethlisberger and the entire offense have been terrible. They could not get into the endzone against the Cleveland Browns, got chased down by the Raiders, hammered against Baltimore, stunned by Kansas and nailed by the Bengals. That is shocking for the Super Bowl Champions.

The question is simple. Will the Steelers come good now that the pressure of making the playoffs is taken off their shoulders? Looking at that list of teams sho have beaten them, the answer has to be no.

NFL Betting Line at BetUS.com: Pittsburgh -2 (41)

Meanwhile, Green Bay is just a team that knows how to win and nothing suggests that they cannot win this game by at least ten points. Overall, Green Bay is ranked 11 th and their rush defense is 1 st on the road. Mix that with the way the Steelers have been playing and you just can’t see this going any other way.

Our Pick: Green Bay -2 (OVER)
